Pasta Fagioli 🍜

A hearty and traditional Italian 'pasta and beans' soup that is as comforting as it is nutritious.

Standard Preparation (From the Label)

  • You will need:

    • 1 package Pasta Fagioli mix

    • 2 tablespoons olive oil

    • 1 chopped carrot

    • 1 chopped celery stalk

    • 1 cup chopped ham

    • 2 (28 oz) cans chopped tomatoes

    • 4 cups chicken stock or water

    • Parmesan cheese (optional garnish)

    Cooking Instructions:

    1. Remove the inner bags from the mix package. Rinse the beans thoroughly and set them aside.

    2. In a large soup pot, sauté the chopped carrots, celery, and ham in the olive oil.

    3. Add the tomatoes, chicken stock, rinsed beans, and the seasoning mix packet.

    4. Bring the mixture to a boil, then partially cover the pot.

    5. Reduce heat and simmer for 2 to 3 hours, or until the beans are tender.

    6. Add the pasta and cook for an additional 5 to 7 minutes until the pasta is al dente.

    7. Remove and discard the bay leaf before serving.

    8. Garnish with Parmesan cheese if desired.

    Ingredients: Northern beans, pinto beans, red beans, bay leaf, onion, garlic, oregano, basil, celery, rosemary, salt, pasta.

  • Meaty Italian Soup: Brown ½ lb of Italian sausage or ground beef in the pot before adding the liquid for a more substantial dinner.
